Two Girls from Safed shows two young women who is surrounded by Bergner’s famous vigorous birds. The enigmatic nature of the image is intensified by his recognized depiction of his feminine figures; the woman is always dressed in a colorful decorative dress, her eyes are big and dark staring in a hypnotic gaze, while she is standing in an stormy dark field. As in many of Bergner‘s prints, his narrative image carries a mysterious edge.
