Dishes is a lively and surrealistic still-life, one of Bergner’s finest. Bergner was preoccupied with the new Jewish immigrants who arrived to Israel with their personal belongings including dishes, beddings, furniture. The dishes, the metal iron, the oil lamp are all personified, and with their pointy and expressive edges they seem to be marching ahead. This beautiful silkscreen is an excellent example of Bergner’s Surrealistic influence.
