This woodcut belongs to a series of 10 woodcuts titled The God Seekers which Rubin created at age 30. The atmosphere throughout the various images is holy, dramatic and optimistic. The God Seekers seek God and pray to him. Rubin succeeded to evoke the spirit of life in Israel in those early days. He used the classical technique of woodcut to express his devotion to the history of art along with the new and modern spirit.
The woodcut was published by the Bineth Gallery of Fine Art, Jerusalem, in 1966, when Rubin decided to print 85 copies from the original woodblocks, engraved by him back in 1923.
