The barefoot woman carries a large jug over her head, the traditional way the oriental women carry heavy weights, while in one hand she holds her child and in the other an empty jug. This extraordinary depiction has a sense of dynamic motion due to Rubin’s quick and long lines of the the dress, the veil.
