New Immigrants is a beautiful hand-colored lithograph by the artist himself. Bezem is preoccupied by the theme of immigrants for he was an immigrant. This lovely print presents a humoristic image of an immigrant arriving to the new country dressed with his best cloths – a suit, a tie, a hat. He is accompanied by several imaginary flying figures. This humoristic and imaginary image stands in contrast to the difficult theme of immigrants, however it demonstrates beautifully Bezem’s lively and joyful works.
